What we handle

Wrongful termination. Being fired is legal most of the time. It is illegal when the reason is your race, sex, age, disability, pregnancy, religion, or another protected trait, or because you complained, took leave, or refused to break the law. We find the real reason.

Discrimination. Passed over, paid less, demoted, or pushed out because of who you are. Federal and state law both apply, and California's Fair Employment and Housing Act reaches employers with as few as five employees.

Sexual harassment. Unwanted advances, a hostile workplace, or a supervisor who ties your job to going along. You do not have to quit to have a claim, and you do not have to have complained first.

Retaliation and whistleblowing. Punished for reporting harassment, discrimination, unsafe conditions, wage violations, fraud, or anything else the law protects. Retaliation claims often succeed even when the underlying complaint does not.

Leave and disability. Denied medical or family leave, fired while out, or refused a reasonable accommodation for a disability or pregnancy.

Unpaid wages and overtime. Off-the-clock work, misclassification as exempt or as a contractor, missed meal and rest breaks, unpaid commissions, and final paychecks that never came.

PAGA. California's Private Attorneys General Act lets one employee bring penalties on behalf of all affected employees. The 2024 reforms changed the math; we will tell you whether a PAGA claim helps or hurts your case.

Who we represent

Hourly workers, managers, salespeople, professionals, and executives. Employees of small businesses and of the largest employers in the state. We take cases in California, Nevada, and Washington, and clients who worked across state lines have one lawyer for all of it.

How a case works

  1. Free consultation. You tell us what happened. We tell you honestly whether you have a case and what it is likely worth.
  2. Investigation. We get your personnel file, pay records, and the documents the employer hopes you never see.
  3. Demand or filing. Many cases resolve before suit. The ones that do not get filed and prepared for trial from day one.
  4. Mediation or trial. Most employment cases settle at mediation. We prepare every case as if it will not.

Contingency fees in most cases: no attorney fee unless we recover for you. How costs are handled is explained in writing before you sign anything.

Deadlines matter

Discrimination and harassment claims have administrative filing deadlines that can be as short as 180 days in some states and three years in California. Wage claims and retaliation claims have their own clocks. Call before you assume you have time.
